SA: Big drop in unemployment in SA

South Australia's jobless rate dropped to eight per cent in November.

Employment Minister MARK BRINDAL has called the figure an early Christmas present.

The rate is still the highest unemployment figure on the mainland, but is a 0.8 percentage
point drop from the previous month.

Opposition jobs spokesman MICHAEL WRIGHT has also welcomed the improved result, but
says SA is still well behind the national average.

But Australian Democrats leader MIKE ELLIOTT says it's deceptive of the government
to claim there is employment growth, when there are more casual and part-time jobs at
the expense of full-time work.
